It is with profound sadness that we inform you that Neil MacRae Henderson of Gatineau Quebec, passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on July 22, 2024 at the age of 76.
Neil was born on June 30, 1948 in Moncton, New Brunswick. He was known for his charming demeanor, sharp wit, and fierce protectiveness. He cherished every moment spent with his family and friends. His family will remember him as a man’s man. To his children, he was loving and fair. He made sure to instill his values on them. To his wife, he was protective, loving and caring. He always made her a priority. He was a true gentleman and “A Gentle Man”.
Neil was predeceased by his beloved parents, Hugh and Ruth Henderson (née Biggar), and his brother-in-law, Douglas Randlett. He leaves behind his beloved wife Susan Rodrigues, his sister, Mary Jane Randlett (Noëlla), his brother-in-law, Dino Rodrigues (Mariana), and his sister-in-law, Clara Rodrigues (Richard).
Neil was a cherished father to Nichole Habinski (Ian), Kristy Gard (Dana), Christopher Bicudo (Melanie), Catherine Watson (Luke), Patrick Bicudo, and Tara Henderson (Simon). He was deeply loved by his grandchildren: Matthew, Emily, Bethany, Lauren, Keith, Lylah, Ashton, Elijah, and Hannah. He will be remembered fondly by his nephews, Owen and Paul Randlett, his close cousins John Biggar (Carol), Ruth Biggar as well as other relatives and close friends.
A retired RCMP Peace Officer, Neil dedicated 26 years of his life to serving his community from 1970 to 1996.
A celebration of Neil’s life will be held at Cedarview Alliance Church, 2784 Cedarview Rd, Nepean, ON, on August 15th at 2pm. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering a remarkable man who touched many lives.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Neil’s memory.
